Heavy Duty Mechanic Journeyman

Job Responsibilities:

• Operate light duty vehicles;
• Operate heavy duty vehicles within the JD&C yard;
• Complete assigned work orders;
• Work efficiently with other maintenance staff and outside contractors;
• Communicate parts orders with the Service Coordinator;
• Diagnose, rebuild and repair diesel, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and drivetrain systems;
• Conduct thorough inspections, servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and parts replacement;
• Travel to the field to complete repairs;
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment;
• Complete required safety training and follow all safety protocols, including PPE usage;
• Complete all required safety paperwork, such as but not limited to, Pre Job Hazard Assessments, Hazard Identification, and Near Misses;
• Collaborate with supervisors and other teams on procedures, standards, and safety;
• Mentor and teach apprentices;
• Participate in Incident Investigations as required;
• Work independently or in a group setting;
• Attend safety meetings, as required;
• Promote a safe work environment;

Job Requirements:

• Applicant must supply their own hand tools (specialty tools are provided by JD&C Services);
• Experience working with over the road commercial vehicles and trailers;
• Exceptional organizational and communication skills;
• Ability to handle changing schedules and priorities;
• High level prioritization skills and attention to detail;
• Minimum of a current Canadian Class 5 Driver's License;
• Applicant must be able to pass post offer drug and alcohol screening;
• Currently holding a Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic certificate;
• A current Canadian Class 1 or 3 is an asset;
• Standard First Aid; H2S Alive and Common Safety Orientation certificates are an asset.

Pay: $45.00-$55.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate: Hinton, AB - reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
